EX-“VEGANS”

no such thing

Anyone claiming to be an ex “vegan” was never really vegan to begin with. Veganism is a moral baseline, not a diet. Vegans hold the viewpoint that it is morally unjustifiable to exploit and kill sentient beings who want to live. Especially for something as unnecessary as taste pleasure or fashion.

It’s a rejection of speciesism.

When one holds the belief that killing others is wrong, they don’t just wake up one morning and decide that murdering others is the right thing to do.

why

There are many reasons why people who once shunned eating animals and their secretions choose to start consuming them again.

One reason is societal pressures. Another reason is it’s trendy right now to have a YouTube video/channel with titles like “Why I’m No Longer Vegan”, “Ex-Vegan Turns Carnivore” or “Vegan Deterioration”, etc. Titles/headlines like that gets them a lot of click$ and $ubscribers.

Then there’s pied pipers, like Jordan & Mikhaila Peterson and $hawn Baker. They’re leading people astray with their anecdotal lion/carnivore diet. Note: Meat-centric diets like Atkins, Paleo, Keto, & now carnivore have always been popular because people love hearing good news about their bad habits.

Say “I DO” here.

reasons for failure

There are those who ate nothing but all fruit and/or didn’t eat enough food/calories.

Those who drank urine/ammonia (yep… you read that right), did unmonitored 30+ day water fasts, or ate nothing but vegan junk foods. Those who took antibiotics, other meds, and/or recreational drugs, took tons of supplements, etc.

All which can lead to health problems (and will not heal already existing conditions).

Many people enter into a plant-based diet with existing health/gut problems. They are usually seeking better health. If they go straight to the extremes, without ever seeking the help of a plant-based physician or plant-based nutritionist/dietitian, it makes sense that the failure rate would be high.

As a side note, one factor as to why so many people suffer with gut/microbiome issues is that we are also exposed to things like glyphosate. Which is classified as an antibiotic and is terribly destructive to our microbiome.

healthy for all stages of life

Here’s what the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics has to say about a well-rounded whole food plant based vegan diet…

It is the position of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics that appropriately planned vegetarian, including vegan, diets are healthful, nutritionally adequate, and may provide health benefits for the prevention and treatment of certain diseases. These diets are appropriate for all stages of the life cycle, including pregnancy, lactation, infancy, childhood, adolescence, older adulthood, and for athletes.

Plant-based diets are more environmentally sustainable than diets rich in animal products because they use fewer natural resources and are associated with much less environmental damage. Vegetarians and vegans are at reduced risk of certain health conditions, including ischemic heart disease, type 2 diabetes, hypertension, certain types of cancer, and obesity.

Low intake of saturated fat and high intakes of vegetables, fruits, whole grains, legumes, soy products, nuts, and seeds (all rich in fiber and phytochemicals) are characteristics of vegetarian and vegan diets that produce lower total and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol levels and better serum glucose control. These factors contribute to reduction of chronic disease. Vegans need reliable sources of vitamin B-12, such as fortified foods or supplements.

get help

If you are someone who is thinking about (or already has) cutting out animal foods for ethics, health, and/or the environment and you are suffering with digestive issues or other health problems… please consider seeking out the help of a plant-based physician or plant-based nutritionist/dietitian before making the choice to consume animals and their secretions.
